Celebrate Star Wars with a day-long celebration at the Library!

A Galaxy Not So Far, Far Away: Shooting Star Wars

10 a.m.-11 a.m.
Photojournalist, Star Wars enthusiast and honorary Mandalorian Merc Robert L. Cunningham talks about the places that served as filming locations for some of Star Wars’ most iconic locations: Naboo, Alderaan, Hoth, Endor and Tatooine. Also find out about the Save Lars Project, which restored Luke Skywalker’s desert home.

Return to the Library

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Meet members of the Galactic Empire. Members of the 501st Legion, Midsouth Garrison, return to the Library!   Don’t be surprised if Rebels, Resistance fighters or Mandalorian Merc appear as well. A green screen backdrop will allow participants to be photographed and deposited onto a familiar Star Wars landscape.

Impressive, Most Impressive Costume Contest

2 p.m.-3 p.m.
Come dressed in your Star Wars finery and you could win prizes in our costume contest. Contest open to all ages. Costumes will be judged on creativity and enthusiasm.

Authors at Your Library: David West Reynolds

3 p.m.-5 p.m.
Reynolds discusses The Visual Dictionary of Star Wars, Episodes IV, V, & VI: The Ultimate Guide to Star Wars Characters and Creatures. He will discuss how a Fort Knox Soldier helped shape a key Star Wars universe icon.
