New Nook Titles

Barr Memorial Library has added 44 new items to its circulating Nook Color collection.  The list include several YA books, as well as a mix of fiction and nonfiction from some of the authors that will be visiting the Library in the coming months as part of our Authors at Your Library series.

Holiday Hours

Barr Library will close at 5pm every day during the weeks of 12/22-12/27 and 12/29-1/3.  The Library will be closed on 12/25-12/27 for Christmas and 1/1 for New Year's Day.

Construction Update #2; New entrance to open 9/9@9!

Customers will feel the benefit of construction beginning this Tuesday, September 9, at 9 a.m.   That's when the new Library entrance from Dixie Street, conveniently located right off the parking lot, will open for the first time.  This will become a permanent entrance and exit for customer ease of access.   A new bookdrop has been installed there for convenience as well when the Library is closed.

The main entrance will close Monday, September 8, at 7:30 for replacement of its overhang.

The clerestory window replacement project is complete, with only small touch ups to do inside the building.

Roof replacement continues.

New York Times Bestselling Author Tess Gerritsen, creator of "Rizzoli & Isles," to appear in January 2015

The amazing Tess Gerritsen, author of December's Die Again and creator of Rizzoli & Isles, will appear as part of the Authors at Your Library series January 22, 2015 at 12 pm! She's just the latest in our effort to deliver the best programs of any Army Library in the world!

Library Construction Update #1

Construction is in full swing at Barr Memorial Library!

As work proceeds on the clerestory windows in the atrium section of the Library there will be some disruption to our computer area:

From Wednesday, June 25, through Friday, June 27, approximately 14 of computers will be unavailable. 

From Friday, June 27, through Tuesday, July 1, there will be NO fax capabilities.

From Thursday, July 3, through Tuesday, July 7, approximately 11 computers will be out of service. We have added 18 computers in the Meeting Room to make up for this.

Independence Day Closure

Barr Memorial Library will close at 5PM on Thursday, July 3, and be closed all day on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Jim DeFelice, author of Bradley bio and co-author of American Sniper, visits in June

 Jim DeFelice, the bestselling author of Omar Bradley: General at War and co-author of American Sniper, will visit the Library Wednesday, June 4, 12 pm, to discuss the relationship of Bradley, the late Chris Kyle (author of American Sniper) and "Johnny Walker," the subject of his new book Code Name: Johnny Walker: The Extraordinary Story of the Iraqi Who Risked Everything to Fight with the U.S. Navy, which will be released February 11.

Authors at Your Library to welcome New York Times Bestselling Author Joseph Finder in May

New York Times Bestselling author Joseph Finder will discuss and sign his new thriller Suspicion Wednesday, May 28.  Time of the event is still to be determined.  
Finder is the winner of the Strand Critics Award for Best Novel for Buried Secrets, winner of the International Thriller Writers Award for Best Novel for Killer Instinct and winner of the Barry and Gumshoe Awards for Best Thriller for Company Man.  His first thriller, Paranoia, which follows greed, conspiracy and corruption in the corporate world was adapted as a film starring Liam Hemsworth, Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford and released in 2013.
