Barr Library’s Authors at Your Library series continues May 17, 6:30 PM, with the appearance of Chris Kolakowski, director of the General George S. Patton Museum of
Leadership. Kolakowski will discuss his book The Stones River and Tullahoma Campaigns: This Army Does Not Retreat, which focuses on two key Civil War campaigns in Tennessee.
The Stones River and Tullahoma campaigns, which spanned from November 1862 to July 1863, were characterized by heavy fighting and losses. Kolakowski offers a look into the dramatic proceedings that defined these important campaigns and the legendary commanders who presided over them.
Kolakowski was born and raised in Virginia, receiving a BA in history and mass communications from Emory and Henry College and a MA in public history from the State University of New York--Albany. He has written and spoken about the American Revolution, the Civil War and the wars of the 20th Century. His first book, The Civil War at Perryville: Battling for the Bluegrass, was published in 2009.
