Want a book that’s checked out? If you have a regular account with us (Active Duty stationed at Fort Knox, local retiree, or full-time civilian employee), place a hold.  You can do that online too. Just:
  1. Find the book you want
  2. Click on 
  3. Log in with the e-mail address and PIN you set up at the Library
  4. and wait for the e-mail or call. 
(Note: We only allow holds on books, audiobooks, Nooks, and Rokus.)

Our event with Colette Ballard, young adult author, scheduled for August 20, is postponed due to a publisher's issue with the release of her new book Temporary High
The event will be rescheduled as soon as the new release date of the book is established.

Summer Reading Has Begun!

IT'S HERE!

SUMMER READING HAS BEGUN!



Children: Infants to Age 12

  • Pick up or print off your reading log. Color in the pictures for the amount of time you spend reading. (Being read to, coming to our Story Hour, and using Tumblebooks all count too.) 
  • Finish your log (12 hours) and turn it in to get your prize bag full of goodies and to be entered in the drawings for weekly prizes and the grand prizes.
  • More reading = more chances to win!


Teens: Ages 13-17

  • Read 8 books, magazines, or graphic novels. Or read 5 and complete three tasks in your log.
  • Fill out your log and turn it in to get your prize bag and to be entered in the drawings for weekly prizes and the grand prize (a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK 10.1). 
  • Keep reading and turning in completed logs for more chances to win.


Adults: 18 and Up

  • Open to Active Duty Soldiers, Spouses, Family Members, Retired Military, DoD Civilians, National Guard and Reservists. 
  • Read 10 books; or read 3 books and attend 5 of our summer events listed on the log
  • Turn your log in for your prize and to be entered in the weekly prize drawings and grand prize drawing. 
    • Grand prize: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK 10.1.
    • Second prize: Complete autographed set of Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles series of books.

Have you seen our calendar of events for April? It is full of great programs!


Spring Break means Legos and LEGO movies at the library, Monday through Friday.

If you are a soldier, retired soldier, or veteran who has a story to tell, sign up for our 4-part Soldier Stories writing seminar.

We have TWO author visits this month: Berry Craig and Julie Kagawa.
PLUS a panel discussion with FIVE different authors, explaining their careers in an effort to help you with yours.

Each Saturday, come watch episodes of Kevin Burns' The Civil War on our projection screen with surround sound.
Plus, don't miss Jim Sayre as Abraham Lincoln on April 28th.

    Library to Host Official Release Event for YA Title Oblivion This Summer


    Announcing a first for the Authors at Your Library series!   Join Kelly Creagh, author of the young adult Nevermore series, for the official release event of Oblivion, the third and final chapter in the Nevermore saga.   This is the Library’s first author release event, held on the day the book goes on sale!   Participate in the Nevermore Masquerade and stay for Creagh’s official first comments on the book at 6:30 PM.    She will discuss and sign Oblivion.  Copies of Oblivion, Enshadowed and Nevermore will be available for sale at the event.

    Authors of Young adult titles to be featured in Authors at Your Library programs in coming months

    In response to overwhelming requests, the Library will welcome five authors of young adult titles in coming months.  New York Times Bestselling Author Julie Kagawa kicks off the series April 23, with Bethany Griffin ("The Fall"), Katie McGarry ("Nowhere But Here"), Kelly Creagh (the "Nevermore" series) and Colette Ballard ("Temporary High") to follow in coming months.  Watch the Library's web and Facebook pages for details.

    Barr Library is pleased to announce the it will welcome New York Times bestselling author Julie Kagawa Thursday, April 23, 6 PM.  Kagawa is the author of numerous young adult bestselling titles.  She will discuss and sign Talon, the first book in a new series.  Join the Lunch Bunch Book discussion of Talon on Wednesday, April 1, 11 AM.
